How the wedding countdown counts
The timer runs to midnight at the start of your wedding day in your own time zone. "Days until" counts calendar days: the day before the wedding always shows 1 day.
Months are calendar months, so "6 months before" a June 12 wedding is December 12. The chart shows every milestone for the next June 12.
Sharing the wedding countdown with guests
Your date is remembered in this browser. To see the same countdown on another device or to send it to someone, use the link in the address bar: it carries the date and the names you typed.
For the engagement party or the honeymoon flight, create a countdown with its own name and colours. The days between dates calculator gives any span in weeks and calendar months, and the days from today calculator finds the date a set number of weeks away, such as an RSVP deadline.
Questions about the wedding countdown
How do I count the days until my wedding?
Count the calendar days from today to the wedding date, not including today. The countdown does this in your own time zone, so tomorrow is 1 day away whatever the time is now, and it also shows the hours, minutes and seconds to midnight at the start of the day.
Can I share the countdown with guests?
Yes. Once you have entered the date, the address of this page contains it. Use Share to send the link, or download an image sized for a post or a story. Anyone who opens the link sees the same countdown in their own time zone.
Is my date stored anywhere?
Only in your browser, so the countdown is still there on your next visit, and in the link if you choose to share it. It is not sent to us.
What are the milestone dates for?
They mark fixed distances from the day: twelve, nine, six, three and one months before, two weeks and one week before, and the first anniversary. They are calendar markers to plan around, not a checklist; what needs doing by when depends on your venue and suppliers.
In English-speaking countries paper has been the traditional gift for the first wedding anniversary since the 19th century.
