How the retirement countdown counts
The timer runs to midnight at the start of your last day in your own time zone. Calendar time is given in years, months and days; weeks are the total days divided by seven.
How many working days are in a year?
From 2027 to 2036, a year has between 249 and 251 working days once the federal holidays are taken out. The number moves with how the weekends fall and with the years in which New Year's Day is observed on December 31.
The holiday dates page lists the federal holidays in each year. For the working days between any two dates, use the days between dates calculator; for the date a number of working days away, the days from today calculator.
