When is Easter? Dates through 2036
How the date is set
In Western churches Easter is the first Sunday after the first full moon on or after March 21, using the church's own tables for the moon. It can fall anywhere from March 22 to April 25.
Easter Sunday celebrates the resurrection of Jesus. Western churches (Catholic and Protestant) set the date with the Gregorian calendar; most Orthodox churches use the Julian calendar, so Orthodox Easter usually falls later.

- The earliest possible date, March 22, last occurred in 1818 and will not occur again until 2285.
